Don't ever lie...
Does anyone tell you that your nose will get bigger when you lie? I guess you heard this when you're still a kid. Your parents or teachers doesn't want you to tell lie to them. Well, i think even if you tell lie, you're safe. The only character in history to have this happen was Pinnochio, the wooden puppet. It only happens to wooden boys like Pinocchio.
I hope he will be fine after he tell lie to us. He, the indonesia business man came to visit us with his wife. He told us that he is not gonna stay in Singapore for a long period. He said "tomorrow i will fly off, i seldom stay Singapore. I am always OVERSEA". I thought i will only see him after few months. Who knows the next two days, he called up and make appointment with us. He claimed that he feel sensitive with his tooth. Oh okay! I got it. Another liar patients who loves to say they are oversea.
An insufficient justification is unacceptable. We have quite a number of patients who cannot missed the appointment. Their reasons are always the same, for example, [Sorry, I don't think i can make it. I am going to oversea.] or [Oh my god! I am so sorry about that. I am at oversea now. I have forgotten to inform you. I will call back when i go back to Singapore.] How many of them is really out station?
Last but not least, i hope that you don't ever lie; someone will eventually find out the truth!

Educated and Rich man
Shall we provide these entertainment for our surgery patients? Yes, i think we shall IF they will say YES to us after the consultation. How many of them won't say THAT'S EXPENSIVE? If they say "ok, i will do it."
Anyway, our clinic don't provide these kind of service at all. If you want, please bring it along on your surgery day.
We could provide IF NO ONE COMPLAINTS THAT WE ARE EXPENSIVE.
A RICH and EDUCATED man who scolded me on that morning. I remembered clearly that i told him "if you do any treatment in our clinic, we won't charge you any consultation fees". I thought he would understand my simple and broken english.
After he consulted the dentist, i told him "sir, it's $50 for your consultation." He starting to @#$%^&* to me. He scolded a lot of nonsense, i only can remember that he said "for me, $50 is just like a peanut! But i won't pay for it, because you told me that it's free consultation."
Wah!!! Since when i told him is "FREE"??? "If you do any treatment in our clinic, we won't charge you any consultation fees" doesn't mean IT'S FREE, am i right? Somemore he didn't do any treatment in our clinic, so of course we will charge for consultation fee. He was very angry. He said will ask lawyer to sue me due to i told him wrong information.
At that moment, i feel so innocent. I did nothing wrong. Is my english problems? Or the information i gave him is not clear enough?
After he @#$%^&*, he left clinic.
Well, that's the difference in between EDUCATED him and UNEDUCATED me! I think this is TOO MUCH for me!!!

Again again and AGAIN!
Everyone know that taxi provided door-to-door service which is called "through telephone booking".
I guess there must be a number of customers that has been given those unlucky taxi drivers "an empty cheque". "An empty cheque" means pang pui ki. That's the main reason to let taxi driver get made.
Shall we have something like appointment booking system by internet? Which means that once you online book for the appointment, you'll have to pay for certain amount. When you visit us on that day, we will do a refundable for you.Come to my work, what are the promises in between us and patients?
For patient, i think the most important is to see the good results. But for us, we only requested to those who have made appointment with us, please turn up. If you cant make it, please call up to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please do not play M.I.A (missing in action) with us. Please be honest to us that you cant make it. Please... don't play fool with us.

Talk to me
Why do you need to see dentist? 70% of them are coming for regular checkup. Wow! We really have a lot of good patients. Oh well, another 30% of them are having problems with their teeth.
Let's talk about the 30% patients. When dentist quoted them a price, most of them are always in "hestitation mood". Why? They are giving excuses such as i will give you a call when i am ready, i need to check my schedule first, i want to ask around first, i have to ask my husband / wife / mother / father first, i have to consider and so on. Oh dear! Since you're ready to consult the dentist, i thought you are in ready mood to go for it?
I knew, their hestitation is money, and only money. Since you're concern the treatment frees, when don't you just honest to me? I can help. Oh! Sorry. I should say we can help you. We will try our best to settle your concern.
Allowed me to share with you my story.
A middle age man who plans to have 10 implants done. After he consulted dentist, he said HE WILL CALL FOR APPOINTMENT AFTER HE CONSIDERED. Hmmm... with my "curious personality", i chatted with him. He told me that he has no confidence to us and he felt that the price is a little bit expensive. I was like "hahaha...", then i asked him to take a seat. I show him a lot of photos that we have taken for our patients. Neither for implants nor other cosmetic cases. As what i aspected, i rebuilt his confidence to us.
On the other hand, i informed dentist about the price. After we do a adjustment for the cost, finally he agree with it. And he booked appointment with us for implants surgery.
As what i told you, we will try our best to solve your problems.

Girl, please behave yourself
Since i was sensible, my family upbringing was bein g taught by my parents. "You're a girl, cannot like this" or "you're a girl, cannot like that", i heard this since i was a little girl.
Three months ago, i received a phone call from her, Ms. Chan who enquired about extraction and dentures. I shouldn't use "a phone call" because she called up to enquired five times before she come to see dentist. On the fifth call, she asked me one funny question before she end the call. She said "why you know so many things ar?" .... Oh well, such a good question.
For the first appointment, dentist was advised her to extract all upper teeth and replace with denture or implants. As a result of their "budget" for dental treatment, she forced to do denture to replace her missing teeth. Because her fiance and her plans to get married on next year.*Please refer to the picture*
During her appointment days, all the while she was acting like that. She actually can get it done within one month. But, due her "kiasi" level up to the maximun, she decided to extract in two months time.
The most funniest was when her fiance take care of her in dental room and requested for two pack of painkillers for her. They are so much loving each other until they treated the dentist and the assistant as in transparent. After the extraction, i gave her one pack of painkillers. But he requested another one pack. I wonder how pain is that?
Have to take so many painkillers to stop the pain?
P/S: Above picture is not the real person. It's just a example to show her actions.

Be consideration
When you feel it's the time to pamper yourself, you will go to shop for it. For example, I will go to hair salon to have a hair treatment or spa and beauty treatment, and also manicures and pedicures. Everyone would love to shop for the goodies.
Do you ever think of shop for dental stuffs? Mr Qiang Li is the first patient that i ever seen who look for dental stuff every 3 months. Every 3 months, he will visit our clinic to buy for the goodies. Such as the CJ dental floss (from Korea), DENTISTE toothpaste (from Thailand), supplements and etc. He is such a good patient. And today, i will be meeting him again. Hopefully today will be a good day.
Yesterday everything was going smoothly. Nearly 12.30 pm, suddenly pop up one patient. She looks so familiar. Yes, she is the one who booked appointment at 10 am but didnt turn up. "Sorry. I am so so so sorry. I am late", she came in and appologise to us. "It's okay. By the way, you have to wait for a while. Dentist went out for lunch", i replied. "But i am in hurry. How long do i still need to wait?" "You probably need to wait about 30 min" i said. She was unhappy. She suggested to me that i shall give him a call to let him know she is here. Such a selfish young lady.
Should i ask her to make an appointment for another day? I think i should come out with some ideas, to teach them a lesson. Be consideration, respect others' lunch time.

Premium Calls
Seriously, recently there was too much annoying phone calls from people. Let me tell you what's made me feel so irritated. "Hello, i just want to enquire ya! I am planing to do root canal treatment and crown. I know it is very expensive. I don't have much money. So, can i use Medisave to pay for it?" or "Hello, i just want to ask lah, how much you charge for filling? Wah lao eh! Why so expensive? I went there before you know. Last time your doctor only charge me $20. Now you charge me $80. By the way, can i use medisave to pay for it har?". I felt so increadible. To be honest, i wanted to ask her, nowadays, 90's over centuries, where to get $20 for a filling?
We are conducting day surgery in our clinic. This is true if you are enquire about dental implant or wisdom tooth surgery can be covered by Medisave. Only surgery can be claim by Medisave. Some patients even asked me what is surgery. They might not understand if i tell them it is operation. So, i would rather choose to tell them "cutting your gum". I am so sorry to say that. With my very limited knowledge, other than surgery and operation, i don't even know how to describe it.
It was happened this morning. This lady called up and enquired about denture. Well, it happened that she was not in front of me. I hope she could see my expressions when she was on the phone talking to me. "Hello, i just want to enquire huh! I see through your website, is denture can claim by Medisave?" As i know, our officially website are construe clearly that only surgery can be claim by Medisave. Making a denture is also a part of surgery? I told her, "no, only surgery can use Medisave." She asked, "how much do you charge for full denture?" "It is depends. The price is start from $250.00 and above." I purposely asked her how many missing teeth that she wants to do for the denture. She said, "not sure." Well, that's would be a good answer. She was asking for FULL DENTURE and now she told me she's not sure she had how many missing teeth. After all, she questioned me that how much is the plate of denture and how much is per tooth.
From the beginging that i was assumed that she might calling from other dental clinic, to check up our price for denture. 99% of our patients called up enquire about denture, they will never ever ask about the plate and how much we gonna charge per tooth. Wow wow wow! She has done a good job!
Today she taught me a lesson. I will be more and more aware to certain phone calls.

Respect others first when you want people to respect you
It seems that a lot of people think that respect should just come to them. How can you really earn someone's repsect?
Ms. Lee, came to our clinic yesterday. She was late for 45 mins by her appointment timing. When she came in our clinic, she looked so unhappy with everyone. I should say it more look like everyone was offended to her.
------ You need to do is respect others first. It doesn't matter who are they and so on. If you judge, you'll be judged. To do on to others as you want done on to you, treat others the way you want to be treated. You must respect those around you, before you'll get respect back.Don't walk around mad or frustrated about what's happening in your life or in other people's lives. Take life as it comes. Be the first one to start up a conversation with someone, even if you don't know them. Find something you can talk about. If they're having trouble, help them out if they let you. Offer to lend a hand before you're asked...and most important, be honest with others and with yourself. If you know you won't be able to do something or can't make an appointment, don't lie just to make that person feel good that you'll meet with them. If you don't have time or have other things going on, tell them the truth. People respect an honest answer and an honest opinion.
No matter what the situation. When you see someone, smile. It's contagious, for the most part anyway. 95% of people you smile at, will smile back. They'll know that you are happy with yourself and with your surroundings. In turn, they'll give you respect by smiling back.------Well, back to our patient. When i told her the total amount is $130.00. She asked "how much is the cleaning?" "$80 for scaling and air polishing, another $50 for x-ray", i replied. She told me that "BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE X-RAY", so i told her that everyone of our new patient are compulsary to take a x-ray. She was very rude to said "but you didnt tell me!" I show to her immediately that we were written down on the medical history form. She just kept quiet and throw her ATM card to me.
After i passed the receipt to her, she just walk away.
Huh~ finally she left.

Our Profesional Technician
As usual, when i reach clinic, i will unlock the doors, switch on the lights, tv, computers, suctions, x-ray and etc. Today, i did the same. And i realised the monitor for x-ray is not working AGAIN! So, i quickly call Kevin (The person in-charge). Kevin promised to get a new CPU for us because since my boss bought the x-ray machine, it was not working more than 10 times in a year...About 3pm, Kevin came with the technician (CWC-his name). Below is the conversation in between the technician and me. Let's see...
CWC: I though你很厉害了,上次教了你。
Me:我不是Technician嘛!
CWC: *sinister smile*
Well, i did learn from him partial technique how to solve the problem. I was think, "Hello uncle! If i know how to solve the problems, i think you're jobless now!" Since my boss paid for it, he should settle for us. Am i right? What the hell^^ This kind of rubbish can be manager!!!

SHUT UP! You're so annoying!
I still can remember clearly that our patient's husband blamed me late for work.
That was Monday. I was early reached clinic that morning, exactly 9.10am i reached.
When i squated, trying to unlocked the door, i heard he said:" Wah! A neh wua jia kui meng!..." He spoke to his wife in Hokkien. I felt so annoying, but i just kept quiet. Once i unlocked the door, i told his wife, "please go in and take a sit. Doctor will be coming in at 10am. Next time may be you can called up to book appointment in adbance, so that you no need to stand for so long to wait at outside. Somemore we are open at 10am."
I guess only blind people cant see that WE ARE OPEN AT 10am!!! I did't late, i was not only on time, i was early 20 mins than working time. She was politely replied me "it's ok. I called yu0 yesterday. But no one answered the phone."
I nearly vomit blood when i heard that. Yesterday was Sunday. Who is working on Sunday? I felt so helpless. I didn't bother about them after that until my boss came in.
Who can understand my feeling?
Teach me what should i do?

Are you a professional salesman?
The day before yesterday, one of our "regular" salesman came to visit our clinic. When he came in, he said "is Dr. Tan in?". I was so suprised. As i know, we dont have any Dr. Tan. We only have Dr. Ng. So i replied, "No. By the way, we only have Dr. Ng, not Dr. Tan." He was not so happy said that "oh ya! it's Dr. Ng. Is she in?" "No, he is not in."
***Please open your eyes as big as possible when you read the highlighted part.***
--- speechless---
If you're were him, what you will do before you want to visit your client? As a professional salesman, i think they should make sure who is the dentist.
This is his picture. Toh - the sales representative.
Please don't ask me where can i get from his picture.
I hope his company send him to some salesman course, to learn the basic sales skill.

Free Consultation
Most of the white collar hates Monday. They claimed that Monday is always “BLUES”. For me, i feel “BLUES” when i received nonsense calls from alamakians!
Since yesterday, i was so blues. The whole day keep on answering calls with no appointment. I was wondering may be they checking for the price, end up they choose the most CHEAPEST treatment fees in Singapore?
I never know that “Free Consultation” is ALIVE in Singapore. From my point of view, i believed that there is “nothing is free” in Singapore. Live for the reality. I get bored with those people who ask for free consultation.
I received one call from a lady who doesn’t want to pay for the consultation and X-ray. She told me that she wanted to find the lower charges for wisdom tooth surgery. When i told her that dentist needs to see the x-ray before give her the quote. She said “actually the my sister wants to do wisdom tooth surgery. But she is busy with her work. Can i bring over the X-ray show to the dentist with paying any consultation fees?” “Anyway you have to pay for the consultation fee,” I told her. “I need to check with my sister. I will call back later” she replied. I knew she won’t call back, because she doesn’t want to pay any single cent. She was trying to find F.O.C consultation.
*Her sister is so busy with her work, do you she has time to go for the surgery? Unless she is in pain condition.*

Can't you tell me exactly what you want?
It was happened in 2 hours ago, during my lunch time. *Ring Ring Ring* when i picked up the phone, “Hello, good afternoon. May i help you?” i said. From another side, i can hear there are a young lady’s impatient sound. She said “is there any slot for today?” “Yes, can you make it about 3pm” i said. And she asked “later?”. “3.30pm?” Again, she asked me “later?” “4pm” i replied. She asked the same question with impatiently, “Later?” and i told her the latest time for her is 4pm. She made a sound like “aiyahhhh!!!” and booked appointment at 4pm.
